Andrew Herrera
Labor, Environment, Communications Strategy
Andrew Herrera is the founder of Herrera Strategy, an MBE certified government affairs and communications consultancy.
Andrew pairs his deep understanding of organizing and strategic communications with his strong network of relationships built over ten years of electoral work, to lobby on behalf of advocacy organizations around labor and environmental issues. His unique background positions Herrera Strategy to be able to provide full service public policy campaign support, from ideation to power mapping, message development to media relations, brand design to website development, and coalition building to policymaker engagement.
He began his career working on the roll-out of the Affordable Care Act in Illinois and later went on to consult for global brands on national marketing campaigns with a special focus on multicultural outreach. Andrew has also spent the last decade working as a grassroots organizer, building place based electoral institutions and mobilizing working families in support of progressive candidates up and down the ballot. This dual interest in communications and public affairs led him to the University of Chicago where he completed his Masters in Public Policy at the Harris School in 2020.
After completing his Masters, Andrew shifted his professional focus to the non-profit media space, working at City Bureau as their first Director of Growth Strategy and subsequently as their Director of Network Growth, leading the project to expand the acclaimed Documenters program nationally and gaining a keen understanding of non-profit funding and administration.
His background in communications and organizing, undergirded by his public policy training and non-profit experience position Andrew to advise his clients and candidates on a broad range of issues to help position them for success.
He is a proud Pilsenite where he keeps a healthy garden with his growing family.
